April Goals

Tulips spotted in Old Town Alexandria!

Happy April! This is going to be SUCH a fun month! We have both moms visiting, Easter, and a trip to Charleston planned! Spring is such a fun, celebratory season. I often feel like it’s so busy with Easter, weddings, graduations, Mother’s Day, etc. that it doesn’t get as much love as fall, but I love you, spring! What a wonderful time to explore DC! Plus, it’s time to make some real progress on getting ready for baby. I didn’t do as well with my March goals as I had hoped, but it’s a new month!

Here’s what I want to Accomplish this Month:

  1. Plant Balcony Garden. Our balcony boxes have been sad and empty over the winter, but it will soon be time to put some flowers and herbs out there again! I think we will plant some similar items to what we did last year.
  2. Plan Europe Trip. This is creeping up on me! We aren’t going to be gone for very long, but we are going to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Stockholm in May! I need to get hotels, plan transportation between cities, and plan what we want to do in the cities.
  3. Enjoy Charleston with the Phillipses! We’re so excited to finally visit Erin, Ryan, and Sully for a weekend in Charleston! Erin and I already have a surprise fun excursion planned, and I can’t wait to see their new house, catch up, and see Charleston!
  4. Host Easter Brunch. It is high time for some hosting, and this time we’re doing a small, intimate brunch with Will’s mom and some friends from church before Easter service. I love Easter!
  5. Finish Cleaning out All Storage Spaces. In April, it’s my goal to get all of our storage spaces cleaned out and clear the clutter to make room for baby girl. I am getting rid of a lot of stuff, packing up more to take to a storage unit, as well as moving the guest room furniture out. My mom, the Queen Spring Cleaner/ Purger will be here starting Wednesday night to help with this.
  6. Host Grace Girls Supper Club Night. I am so excited to have my Grace DC ladies over for a taco buffet and good conversation. 🙂
  7. Finish Baby Registries and Make Master To-Do List. I’m sure there are also some things on that to-do list I’m going to want to start checking off (like pediatrician interviews), but just making it is a good first goal.
  8. See one play. Good candidates include Chicago at the Kennedy Center, A Raisin in the Sun at the Arena Stage, Fun Home at the National Theatre, and Smart People at Arena Stage.

Other potential ideas to catalogue for this month: A floral arranging class with Junior League (a 30 before 30 goal check!), a Washington Nationals game with our church, potentially organizing an Escape Room night with friends, coordinating Junior League ladies to go to some of the Espirit happy hours with me, getting out on our bikes again, and/or taking Pippa for a walk on the National Mall.

March Goals Update:

  1. Start Prenatal Yoga.  This has been really beneficial, both physically, and to learn about labor and delivery! It’s taught by a doula who educates us about what’s going on with our pregnancies and prepares us for labor throughout the class.
  2. Take Our Bikes Out on a Trail at Least Once. This was technically April, but it was April 1st, so I’m going to count it! We loved riding our bikes on the Custis Trail and can’t wait to get them out again!
  3. File Taxes! Check.
  4. See One Play. I saw King Charles III, and it was great!
  5. Make Master Baby To-Do List. This is still on my list for April. I did, however, make progress on the registry. Researching baby gear is really time-consuming, but I am finally realizing it probably doesn’t matter what I pick out. If we need to make adjustments when baby girl is here, we will!
  6. Read One Book. This is about a half-check. I’m about 70% of the way through The Circle Maker. It’s good!
  7. Cultivate a Consistent Prayer Time. This has made such a difference! I started a first-thing prayer time (before Bible study), and the routine of it really helps with consistency.
  8. Host a New Member Junior League Wine and Cheese Night. This was foiled due to scheduling conflicts, but we will try again!

You can see all my goals posts here.

I’m feeling like I had better get busy just looking at this list. What’s going on in your April?
