Friday Favorites No. 13: Mother-Daughter Weekend

Whew, what a week! It started with Mom’s visit over the weekend. She left Monday morning, and we took dinner to friends with a new baby Monday night. Then Will left for Boston for a work trip on Tuesday. Last night we hosted friends for dinner, and today we’re headed to Nashville for another wedding! Fun times. Here’s what else is up:

Our Weekend with Mom!

shopping-with-mom-3

Like mother, like daughter. We like the same things, and longevity in wearability is what classic style is all about.

We had a great time with Mom here over the weekend! We went shopping, walked Pippa, took these photos in Alexandria, and generally hung out! It was so nice to have her here, and she always helps us so much around the apartment. Plus, Pippa loooooooves her Grandnan and is really sad she’s gone. P.S. Mom got the flamingo dress for her December trip to St. Thomas and said I could have it in the spring. Twinning is winning.

Week One of the Whole 30 Update! new

The table setting for last night’s little get-together

Woohoo I made it through week one of the Whole 30 without cheating! The first couple of days were tough, and I felt kind of lightheaded and very tired. I think going cold turkey on all sweets was quite a shock to my system. But I ate a lot of honeycrisp apples when I wanted something sweet, and with some sweet potatoes thrown in for starch, I was feeling great by yesterday. I didn’t even cheat when we had friends over! Now we’ll see how the weekend in Nashville goes…

The Cutest Keychain

2016-10-04_0002

I’ve been looking for a cute keychain for a while, and I can’t believe I just realized Moon and Lola have such darling options! I’ve always loved their state necklaces but never really thought about how cute a keychain with a bunch of their charms attached would be. How cute are those tassels, and the goldendoodle charm?!

On Posting my First Outfit Post

new-2

As you might have noticed, I posted my first outfit post yesterday! It was not really a departure from the kind of things I’ve been posting on here all along, but for some reason it felt different. I had some doubts about this venture. Isn’t it a little narcissistic? And who am I to decide I’m a fashion authority? But then I did some thinking and realized that my favorite way to find new clothes is to see my friends wearing cute things and ask them where they got them. So that’s basically what this is. I shop at very normal, inexpensive stores, and I like very basic things that I’ve been wearing and will continue to wear my whole life (see me and Mom above). But if you just want to see how something looks on a real person with more detail than you can get in the online photos of it, I’ve got you. Plus, this was just super fun, so expect to see more outfits around here from time to time in the future!

Gilmore Girls Fever

z-1

Ok I know everyone is already freaking out about the Gilmore Girls Revival coming to Netflix in November, and let’s hope it’s less cheesy than Fuller House. But the Luke’s Diner pop-ups?!?! Too adorable. I’m always in the mood to rewatch every episode of the GG in the fall (I don’t know why, but it feels like a fall show), but this year, it’s serious. Maybe if I just leave a constant loop running in my apartment I can get through all the episodes before Thanksgiving??

What Happened Here this Week:

I made some goals for October.

I started sharing photos from our Maui trip!

Wedding Wednesdays continued with our engagement video.

I styled a plum dropped waist dress for fall!

How was your week?
