Friday Favorites No. 23: Springtime in February

It has been an insanely gorgeous week around here, and from what I hear, everyone else has been enjoying 70-degree weather too! Anyone else loving it but also wondering whether this is a problem? Ha. The short week started with some amazing hiking on the Appalachian Trail out in Shenandoah National Park while in Virginia Wine Country (see sheep above!), and we are actually heading to New York to celebrate our anniversary this weekend! I can’t wait to get on that train. It’s supposed to be warm today, rain tomorrow, and then back to February weather on Sunday, though, so packing was a challenge. I can’t imagine a better celebration than just being in the city and seeing old friends. Here’s what else has been up!

The Best Valentine’s Day Date

Ok I know, I know, I’m the LAST person to see this movie, but really, it surprised me by being even better than I thought it would be. Plus, we had the best Valentine’s Day this year. We always remember and reminisce about the fun trips we’ve taken, but sometimes these simple nights doing dinner and a movie on a Tuesday are just as special. We went to our favorite, Nando’s Peri Peri (really, I could eat the chicken burger every day), and discovered that a movie theater right by our apartment was just re-done with comfy recliner seats! I love Emma Stone to the moon and back, so I was obviously pre-disposed to love this movie, but the musical theater and old movie elements were so darling. I also loved that it mixed the modern with the old-fashioned elements and really made you think.

Fogo de Chao!

I kind of love this grainy photo, purely for the joy in it.

I like to think that I’ve been to a lot of different kinds of restaurants, but for some reason the Brazilian Steakhouse experience eluded me until we just went to celebrate Ben and Jeff’s February birthdays at Fogo de Chao! It was super fun, but I mentioned that I don’t know how often I want my conversation interrupted by waiters bringing more food. The guys’ opinion was that if they are bringing delicious slabs of meat, they can come by anytime! Anyway, it was a wonderful, memorable evening with great friends!

Lilly Swell Bottles!

This is torture, Lilly! I suppose this is my comeuppance for scoring so well when the Lilly + Target collaboration went down, but I want one of these beauties so badly! I love Lilly as much as the next girl, but I may have mentioned that I’m a little picky about the prints I like and don’t like. Well, these are just GORGEOUS and I love all four of them (especially the oranges!). They are on sale online on my anniversary, so maybe fate will intervene. In similar news, I am also loving this J.Crew/New Balance collaboration that Carly featured recently!

What I’m Listening to Lately

Ok, how cute is Kimberly Schlapman? I love her Southern lady style. You need to check out her outfits! Anyway, I’ve really been into listening to music as much as possible lately, and Little Big Town’s “I Wish you Were a Better Man” is totally on my list. I know everyone is loving Ed Sheeran’s new tracks, but personally I prefer “Castle on the Hill” to “Shape of You.” Also, Kate Padgitt made the best Spring Country Playlist that I’ve been loving. And of course, the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack has been on repeat in our place, gearing up to see it tomorrow!

Our Wedding Reception on Conde Nast!

I’m kind of partial to that time this same photo was on Southern Living, but my friend Christine tipped me off that it’s also making its round on Conde Nast Traveler, so my string lights and tall flower ideas are VIRAL, haha.

Here’s what else was up on the blog this week:

We stayed at the Farmhouse at Veritas, and it was charming.

I told the story of how I said yes to the dress.

I shared my best tips for creating an intentional routine.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
