Friday Favorites No. 37: Shots, Shopping Trips, and Southern Weddings

Happy Friday! Well, we just watched a heartbreaker for the Nats! I can’t claim to be a major baseball fan, but I get more and more into it with age/marriage. I have so much to share that has accumulated over the last couple of weeks, so let’s just dive in.

The Two Month Pediatrician Appointment // I know I already shared the full two month update, but y’all, do the shots ever get easier? I would rather have someone stick me a thousand times than hold this sweet baby’s hands while they give her her vaccines. It was so sad. Any mama tips?

Victoria’s First Shopping Trip // In much lighter news, Victoria went on her first big shopping trip with me and Granny while my mom was still here! She was a trooper! We didn’t find as much for her for the fall as we had hoped, though. We like to dress babies like babies, so I think she’ll just be wearing a lot of smocked bishops with tights and sleepers until she’s a little bigger. We did get the cutest fall coat ever, though.

My Mean Girls the Musical Event// Who else is so super excited for Mean Girls the Musical?! I happen to know that adorable blonde playing Regina George from my theater days in Missouri, and Tina Fey wrote the book, so clearly I’m all about this out-of-town try-out being in DC. In fact, I planned a social outing for my Junior League committee to go see it on November 28th! The evening will begin with a happy hour at the Hamilton, and then we’ll head over to the National together! Junior Leaguers, get all the info here! Also, you must wear pink if you want to sit with us!

Hiking the Billy Goat Trail // Will and I finally hit the Billy Goat Trail while my mom was here, and it was glorious! I must admit that I was anxious to get home to my baby, but this was a bucket list item that did not disappoint. You get to climb on huge rocks and feel like a kid again!

Emotional Labor // This post sparked an interesting discussion in my apartment about how half the work of keeping our household running is remembering all the things we need to do to keep our household running! In response, we’re trying out a new system where Will has complete responsibility over certain areas and I don’t ask him if he’s taken care of things in those realms. It’s harder than it sounds, but it only helps if I don’t micro-manage, so I’m trying!

Southern Weddings Tenth-Anniversary Issue Preorders are Open! // There’s so much news from work this month it’s hard to know where to start. Here goes.  Preorder your copy of V10 here! This very special tenth-anniversary issue promises to be our prettiest yet, and I’m just jazzed.  Also,Cultivate What Matters is hiring an Art Director, and 2018 PowerSheets are coming on October 25th! We’re busy.

Family Trip to the Apple Orchard // We went to Mackintosh Fruit Farms last weekend, and I won’t lie to you, the atmosphere was more like mid-July than full of fall fun. Also, Hayley went with us and got a bootcamp preview of what’s to come when Victoria wailed most of the way home. But really, it was worth it just to put her in this sweet pumpkin bubble, and I have been waiting a long time for this family orchard pic. 🙂
