Friday Favorites No. 38: Victoria’s First Trip to Missouri!

Victoria loved meeting her Great-Grandad!

It’s Monday, but this post was supposed to be up on Friday, so I’m not letting that stop me. October 20th-27th was a week that needs to be documented! October is always one of the most full months of the year, and this one was no exception. Victoria took her first flight to meet her aunt and uncle and great-grandparents, and it went so well! (She’s going to meet the rest of her great-grandparents at Thanksgiving and Christmas and can’t wait.)

We also had a huge week at Cultivate What Matters, so here goes!

Victoria’s First Flight // We’re calling it a success! If air travel wasn’t enough of a hassle already, it sure is now that we’re carrying someone who can’t walk yet and all her stuff. Whew! We took the stroller up to the gate, which made it hard to eat in airport restaurants, because we had to maneuver a stroller through those tiny aisles between tables and luggage. But the main mishap was that we have a lovely travel bag for our stroller that isn’t as easy to pack as it looks. So there was a bit of a panic as we tried desperately to get the stroller into the bag as people were boarding our flight. Eventually we called it good and gate checked the mostly-zipped bag, but we think in the future we may just pack it at home, check it curbside, and wear Victoria through the airport. Air travel with an infant but without a spouse and Pre Check is the next frontier.

Meeting the Great-Grandparents! // We had two wonderful visits to the farm and Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandad’s house! Everyone was delighted to meet each other, and it was so nice to spend time with my grandparents and catch up. We even went to lunch out on the farm and showed Victoria the house that her mama lived in until the fourth grade. Will also took his first combine ride, as we finally made it home during harvest! These photos really just melt my heart so much.

More Trip-to-Missouri News // Victoria also loved meeting her Uncle Andrew and Aunt Elizabeth, and we got so many fun visits from old family friends. It’s such a joy to introduce Victoria to new people! We saw my parents’ new house (they haven’t moved  in yet, though), went to Andy’s Frozen Custard (of course), took Victoria on walks on the Cape trail, went to church and brunch, and discovered these amazing car seat stands some restaurants have! What a great idea! It was a great visit, and we’re thankful the airport is ten minutes away from our place with many direct flights to St. Louis.

2018 PowerSheets Launch Week! // When we got back to DC, it was a very busy (and EXCITING) week for me at work! We launched the 2018 PowerSheets and accessories, and it was so much fun! I came home to a party box full of all these fun goodies from the team, including a onesie for Victoria! I got to talk to PowerSheets users for a lot of the week, and I am just so excited for everyone who will be using them soon!

Moms’ Group Evening Conversations // The week ended with a delightful dessert night at our Pastor’s house for the moms’ ministry. Meg’s hospitality is unparalleled, and this group is just so life-giving for me. We had a great conversation about priorities and trying to do and be it all when there is only so much time, which is really what cultivating what matters is all about. I can’t begin to say how thankful I am for our church and these women.

Victoria’s Birth Announcements // And finally, a little preview. I was so thrilled with how these birth announcements turned out! My mom did the calligraphy, and we found pink ink and envelope liners in the exact same shade as Victoria’s name and bow on the card. We stuck to our pink and gold theme that is still going strong from our wedding (what will I do if we have a boy?!), and the gold foil and these photos made my heart so happy. This is a preview, because now that the announcements are out, look for the rest of this photo shoot here soon!

Happy Monday, everyone!
