Our Apartment on Southern Newlywed!

Guys, get yourselves right on over to the Southern Newlywed column and see all my dreams come true!  I have been checking the Southern Weddings blog first thing Friday mornings (well, let’s be honest, most mornings) for years now and completely obsessing over all the adorable newlywed nests. I love seeing how people around our age decorate, of course, but I also love getting a peek into their daily newlywed lives! It’s really great to hear what they say, because it usually reminds me to appreciate how wonderful marriage is and to remember that you have to be intentional about tending to it.

As if that all weren’t enough of a blessing, Southern Newlywed also made us some of our sweetest friends in DC! One fateful Friday morning, I fell in love with this family on the column, went to Erin’s adorable blog, realized that they live right by us, and knew we had to be friends. So of course, I just send a casual invitation to a complete stranger for our upcoming housewarming party, and luckily, she didn’t think I was crazy. The actual crazy part is that as soon as we started chatting, we made the connection that Will and Ryan went to middle school together! So obviously it was meant to be.

I told Will a long time ago about how much I love the column and that if we could put the finishing touches on our little space, I wanted to send it in! I don’t know how much motivation that really was for him, but the fact that I had an end-goal for our home projects was. I was just tickled that Lisa agreed to share our home, and especially that she introduced us to Abby Grace! I knew I was going to love Abby immediately, and we had the best time getting to know each other and chatting about faith, marriage, creativity, and business while she got these shots! Thank you, Abby!

This newborn baby blog is definitely under construction, but I have big plans for it, and I hope you’ll follow along with our newlywed lives in DC!
