Wedding Wednesday No. 6: Our Love Story Video

Our video is by Lovebird Studios, which was awesome but is no longer in the wedding video business.

What’s a Love Story Video?

One of my favorite things we did during the wedding planning process was create a love story engagement video. I love slideshows at rehearsal dinners, but when I saw this idea and realized we could take the slideshow love story to the next level, it was happening! The idea is to create a montage of a typical day and intersperse that with us telling our love story through a series of interview questions. We went with a fun fall grabbing-coffee-and-walking-Pippa idea, but I’ve also seen couples cooking together or doing something else they typically do. It’s very much in the same vein as engagement photos in that you want to capture the joy of the engagement period and share what your relationship is like on a more casual day than the wedding day. The love story video, though, is so special because there are so many things a video captures that photos can’t. Now we have these interactions, vocal inflections, and excitement bottled up into a beautiful little video we can re-watch as long as .movs survive.

*One thing I would add to this video: Since I start out talking about how not interested in going out with Will I was, I should note that that was only until I had actually had a real conversation with him! After the first date I was in!

Why else would you want to make one?

I think the love story video is a great thing for friends and family too!  Weddings always mean so much more the better you know the couple and their story. And if we’re being honest, no matter how well your guests know you, only a small portion of them will know both of you or really know you together or your relationship’s story. This is a really fun way to get old friends and family caught up on who your fiance is, how you got to the proposal, and what you’re like together. Also, like engagement photos, it’s a really fun way to get people excited about the wedding!

We showed it at our rehearsal dinner, and I hope it was fun for people to see. Regardless of whether it was or wasn’t, Pippa looks adorable in this thing.
