Friday Favorites No. 33: A Sweet Baby Shower, An Almost-Royal Wedding, and Our First Baby’s Birthday!

This week’s finish line

Well we made it through another cold, rainy week and a very uncomfortable Dirty Dancing remake (not that the plot wasn’t always questionable), and now we’re beach-bound for Memorial Day Weekend! Let’s hope it feels at least a little bit like summer. I was finally in town for five days straight this week and am starting to dig my way through my completely out-of-control inbox. Plus, we finally ordered a rocker for the nursery, which is a huge weight off my shoulders. (I can’t explain the power of the nesting instinct.) It was also a great week of celebration. Here’s what else was going on!

My Sweet DC Baby Shower!

Leslie and Hayley threw the sweetest baby shower last weekend for my DC friends, and it was so much fun! It really made me feel blessed to have such a great community of friends here in the big, bad city. 🙂 I’m so thankful for all these people (and those who couldn’t make it!) for making DC feel so homey. Everything was gorgeous, and the food was delicious! I will blog the rest of the photos sometime soon!

Pippa Turned Four!

I can’t believe my first baby girl turned four years old this week! On the other hand, I can’t remember what life before Pippa was like. She hasn’t gotten a lot of airtime on this little blog recently, but don’t worry, we still love her so! She is really the sweetest puppy and has been so much more fun to have than I ever imagined when I decided I wanted a dog. She loves to snuggle, makes us laugh, and is pretty much like a human who can’t talk. Happy birthday, Pippa!

The Other Pippa’s Gorgeous Wedding Photos

In other Pippa news, Pippa Middleton’s wedding photos were such a sweet treat this week! I did miss the getting up at 3:30AM to don my English rose Lilly dress and watch the whole thing on the big screen like I did for the other William and Catherine’s wedding, but I’ll take these delightful images. I loved her very conservative dress and tiara. And Princess Charlotte and Prince George in their wedding best! Too much.

Rachel’s Bachelorette Season: Week One

Let’s get this party started, people! Rachel is absolutely darling, smart, classy, and funny, so I am pumped. But let’s first take a trip down memory lane. It was the summer of 2015. The Virginia Bar exam date was looming: July 28, 2015. I was tired of staring at Barbri books, but the study schedule always makes you feel behind. I felt cooped up and stressed. But the silver lining? Monday nights and Kaitlyn’s finale date: July 27, 2015. Fast forward to 2017. I’m not quite there yet, but I hear the end of pregnancy can get prettttty miserable when you can barely walk and just want to finally meet your baby already. Plus, add that I will be 9 months pregnant in July.  Rachel, I’m looking at you to get me through the home stretch. (Due date: July 27, 2017. Finale Air Date: August 7, 2017. Maybe Baby Girl will be a little late or maybe I’ll be watching it with her!)

All that being said, this is a special season for me, so I’m glad I love Rachel. I plan to write a few thoughts on the episodes each Friday. Initial thoughts on the premiere, which is never a very interesting episode: I’m now convinced the producers definitely require the leads to keep certain characters for entertainment’s sake, because there’s no way Rachel was keeping the Whaboom guy, but really, ABC? We’re not that gullible. Let’s all commence the little dance where we have to act like we believe she’s really interested in him while you create drama between the guys. Sigh. Otherwise, barring people who were completely rude while she was trying to speak to people, Rachel has some great guys, and I’m pumped!

The Best Pizza Outside of Italy

Guys, this pizza changed our lives recently, and I really don’t think that’s just a pregnant lady talking, because there were lines out the door. I got it in my head one night that I really had to have good, Neopolitan pizza for dinner, did a little yelping, and we decided to live a little and check out a completely unknown-to-us place, Pupatella. We’re still talking about it. These people take Neopolitan pizza very seriously, and it’s delicious. Thanks to our runs to the storage unit, we’ve also really enjoyed Lost Dog Cafe and Plaka Grill and discovered that we have a Lebanese Taverna that we’re eyeing next. Yay for expanding our casual restaurant repertoire just in time for summer!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
