Decorating Our New Home For Fall!

I see you people putting out your Christmas decorations, and I say go for it. Whatever makes you happy in your heart and home is good with me! But as for me and my house, we keep our fall decor up until we get back from visiting family for Thanksgiving. Our official season for fall home decor is mid-September through Thanksgiving, though I don’t buy the mums until it looks like it’s going to be cool for a while. Then in October I add some fun Halloween decorations just for a couple weeks. But we are excited to enjoy our fall leaves, mums, and pumpkin everything for a few more weeks! Today I thought I’d give you a little peek into how it looks!

Wreath from Balsam Hill

It is so good to finally feel really settled in our “new” house. Moving is very traumatic for me, probably because I’m really Type A about our belongings being organized and safe. We did have some chips and scratches and a few items lost, but all in all, we survived. I have a great plastic drawer/bin system for our seasonal decor in the basement storage room, and I have been loving the easy access and sorting system by season! Decorating for the seasons, as I did at our old place, really makes the house feel like home. You can see our apartment’s fall decor here!

Outside

As y’all know, I love having a front porch to decorate, and I didn’t even think about how handy it is to keep our decorative items out of the rain! I could hardly wait to decorate our front door, and I went very classic with our fall wreath, mums, pumpkins, and lanterns filled with outdoor flameless candles, hay, and fake fall leaves. The candles and wreath light up automatically at night!

Indoor

Inside I love to add fall touches wherever I can. Our “Gather” banner from the Target dollar aisle is one of my favorite items, and my mom gave me some extra ceramic pumpkins she had when we went to visit in September.

I love our little seasonal chalkboard, and Will can make fun of the fact that I draw a “PSL” every year all he wants, but it makes my heart happy.

This isn’t really fall decor, but we did also get our gallery wall finally finished, and I am so pleased with how it turned out! We will now just swap out photos as new milestones happen.

I also change the throw blanket on our couch in the fall to our black watch version.

This happens to be a real candle in our dining room, but I didn’t put the hay in the hurricane lantern like I did a couple years ago before Will mentioned that burning a candle in hay was probably not the best idea.

This is our dining room centerpiece in fall.

The lighting is really bad in this photo, but this is the coffee table in our TV-watching nook, and there you have it! These little seasonal reminders make me so happy.
